Owen lives across the street from a family with parents who are therapists and two teenage children. Cate is an overprotective mother that gives Owen the eye every time he walks from the tube station.
Cate is a mother of two that stays home to care for her family but still works part time. She keeps a close eye on the man next door. She has been reading the news of women being sexual harassed frequently around the area they live. For somer weird reason she thinks the man next door has something to do with it.
Saffyre is a teenage patient of Cate’s husband, Roan. Since she was 11 she has been seeing Roan to help her through her past sexual harassment. Roan makes a huge change to her life informing her that she is ‘doing better’ and doesn’t need to see him anymore. Saffyre has been so attached to Roan, how can she live without him? Saffyre decides to follow her therapist home, to shops and finds that he isn’t who he says he is.
When Saffyre goes missing, all fingers point to Owen the next door neighbor. Cate is confident he has done something to her and with Saffyre’s blood and phone case in his backyard, there is no question Owen has Saffyre.
Has Owen been framed for a crime he has nothing to do with? Does Cate have the wrong guy? Where is Roan when all of this happened?
Great mystery and thriller read! Some triggers around sexual harassment that I would be aware of. I was hooked from chapter 3 with creative character building and mystery story building. The author did a wonderful job hooking the reader after every ending chapter (which I love). One gripe I have is toward the end, Josh (Owen and Cate’s son) becomes a main character. There was no gradual transition from Josh being a supporting character to a main character. It seemed a bit of a stretch. I felt it was try too hard to link all these individuals together. Would recommend to thriller and mystery lovers!
