We learn about a couples day to day life as they are struggling with their marriage because Marissa, the wife, has been unfaithful. Marissa's solution is to turn to a therapist, Avery.

The book goes back and fourth between two main characters (Avery and Marissa). It follows the couple’s therapy sessions with Avery while she gives tips to the couple to work on their marriage. We soon learn Avery has a complicated past with her patients and comes off as more of a stalker than a therapist. Her behavior is unusual as she follows her patients and demands control to know everything her patient does on the daily. Because of this behavior with past patients, her therapist's license has been stripped.

We read awkward interactions with Marissa and Matthew (the husband) as they live their day-to-day lives. As we found out that adultery is the main issue in the marriage the story unfolds around whom this mystery lover is. Who was it and why? Will the couple have a happy ending?

Broken marriage, desperate couple. Why do I love these combos so much? If you are like me in this weird way of wanting to read how a lovely marriage broke and what measures a couple will go through to not have each other find out, this book might be for you! Marriage therapy is always the answer when marriage gets hard but will it be for this couple.
