A young journalist, Avery Mason, is an upcoming America Events TV host. 9/11 is approaching and she wants her network to do a tribute to one of the most tragic events that happened in America. She lives in California but plans to go back east to visit family and to start tracking down her new story in New York.
Walt Jenkins lives in the Bahamas he moved there to get a way from his past career as a detective for the NYPD. He is retired and enjoying life until he gets a call from his old boss to come back and investigate a potential case he worked on 20 years ago.
Cameron Young was found hanging from his balcony, exposed, and chocked to death. His murder was like no ordinary murder but one that had hints, clues and weird sex games involved. Young was also a famous writer with a wife and baby on the way. This case was 20 years ago and it turns out that all fingers point to Victoria ford a mistress of Cameron’s past. Her urine was found in the toilet and her blood was planted at the scene. Was this murder conducted by her or someone else?
Avery Mason arrives in New York eager to start on her new storyline. She is informed victims of 9/11, many years later, are still being identified. One victim in particular is Victoria Ford.
Jenkins is invited back by his boss to help solve a potential case but it isn’t the Cameron Young case. Their target is Garth Montgomery which happens to be a man on the run that laundered money through a law firm years back. They have a leg up and might know how to catch their guy and Avery Mason might hold all their answers because she is the daughter to Mr.Montgomery. Jenkins needs to get close with Avery to get answers while Avery wants to get close to the detective that might hold all the answers she needs for the Camera Young case and 9/11 victim. The events following are unpredictable.
I gave his book a 3 because it was long for what the story contained. We had a bunch of fluff that wasn’t necessary. We were taken to scenes that had nothing to do with the overall storyline. I felt the author was trying to through us off but it didn’t help. This created confusion and left me bored not intrigued. The story finally had meaning around page 250. Once the story picked up, it kept me stimulated. The events following were well thought out and thrilling. Great ending 3 out of 5 too much fluff for me but overall good book.
